About this shift
The shift starts in the morning and ends in the evening on the same date. It doesn't cross midnight, so the hours are a plain subtraction. From 7am to noon is 5 hours, and from noon to 7pm is 7 hours.

How the hours are worked out
- Write both times in 24-hour form: 07:00 and 19:00.
- Subtract. 19:00 − 07:00 = 12:00, which is 12 hours.
- For minutes, 12 × 60 = 720. For decimal hours, 720 ÷ 60 = 12.
- With the break, 720 − 30 = 690 minutes, or 11 hours 30 minutes.
